What Are the Features of the 2027 Chevy Bolt?

Energy Efficiency & Charging Time

The 2027 Bolt covers 255 miles on a full charge, enough to handle a week of daily commutes, weekend errands, and regional day trips before you need to plug in again. Both the LT   and RS   share the same 65 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, rated at 134 MPGe city / 106 MPGe highway / 120 MPGe combined.

For shoppers who want to understand charging in practical terms: a Level 2 home charger (240V) at 11.5 kW can charge the latest Bolt from 0–100% in approximately 6.21 hours, making overnight charging easy. At a DC fast charger rated up to 150 kW, the battery can go from 10% to 80% in about 26 minutes. The Bolt uses a NACS (J3400) connector located on the front side of the vehicle.

Bold Design

The 2027 Bolt is an attractive compact, five-door SUV body that measures 169.6 inches long, 69.7 inches wide, and 63.9 inches tall, a footprint that threads through Reading's narrower urban streets easily . The 105.3-inch wheelbase keeps the exterior tight while still creating usable passenger space inside.

Both trims ride on 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, and both carry painted front and rear bumpers, bright trim around the side windows, and a roof spoiler. The RS   adds standard black roof rails, giving it a slightly sportier silhouette, which can be accessorized with crossbars, cargo carrier, or a kayak carrier . Six exterior colors are available across the lineup: Summit White, Relic Green Metallic, Marina Blue Metallic, Mosaic Black Metallic, Habanero Orange, and Sterling Gray Metallic, plus an optional Atomic Yellow metallic finish. LED headlights (projector beam, low and high beam), LED daytime running lights, LED rear lights, and LED brake lights are standard on both trims, so the Bolt looks sharp whether it's parked along Reading's revitalized downtown or sitting in a Bernville driveway at dusk.

Power and Performance

A single front-mounted AC permanent magnet synchronous motor produces 210 hp and 169 lb-ft of torque, sent to the front wheels through a 1-speed automatic transmission. Because electric motors deliver full torque from a standstill, the Bolt reaches 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, responsive enough to merge confidently onto I-78 or pull away from a stop on Reading's rolling hills. The new Bolt's top speed is rated at 90 mph.

The front suspension uses an independent MacPherson strut setup with coil springs and a stabilizer bar; the rear uses a semi-independent torsion beam with coil springs. That combination keeps the ride composed on the Schuylkill River Valley's mix of smooth suburban roads and rougher urban pavement. Electronic power steering and Chevrolet's StabiliTrak stability control are standard on both trims, along with a hill holder and electronic handbrake with auto-hold.

Four-wheel disc brakes, two ventilated up front, provide confident stopping, and the Bolt supports single-pedal driving through its energy recuperation system, which recaptures kinetic energy back into the battery on every deceleration.

Interior Comfort

Five passengers fit comfortably in the Bolt's 2+3 seating configuration. Surprisingly spacious for its size, the new Bolt offers plenty of room for adult passengers   in both rows, with second-row legroom of 39.10 inches and shoulder room of 51.98 inches for generous back-seat clearance . Cargo space behind the rear seats measures about 16 cu ft, which handles a week's worth of groceries from Reading's downtown markets or a full set of hiking packs for a trip to the Appalachian foothills near Bernville. Fold the rear seats flat and that figure expands to about 56 cu ft, enough for larger loads like sports equipment or flat-pack furniture. Both trims include a rigid rear parcel shelf and cargo area load hooks as standard.

The LT   comes standard with cloth upholstery (Black Cloth interior). The RS   steps up to synthetic leather seating as standard, available in Black with Red Stitching Evotex, and adds a rear seat center armrest, a heated and ventilated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, and a heated steering wheel. The LT   can add similar comfort features through the optional Comfort Package   and the optional Evotex Package. Single-zone automatic climate control is standard on both trims.

Rear headroom 37.8 in
Front legroom 44.3 in
Rear legroom 39.1 in
Front shoulder room 54.6 in
Rear shoulder room 52 in
Front hip room 51.3 in
Rear hip room 50.1 in

Cargo (seats folded) 56.3 cu ft

Connected Convenience

Both the LT   and RS   come standard with an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch center touchscreen running Chevrolet's infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto are standard, no cable required, which matters when you're loading up before a commute. Google built-in apps and voice assistant are also standard, so navigation, music, and hands-free commands work without a paired phone.

Connectivity runs through an embedded SIM card. OnStar telematics with 96 months of remote services is included, covering remote lock/unlock, vehicle diagnostics, find-my-car, send-destination-to-car, and advanced automatic collision notification. Remote battery management, including battery status checking, remote charge activation, charge timer scheduling, and charge completion alerts, is also included for 96 months. Remote HVAC control (heat and cool) rounds out the remote features, letting you pre-condition the cabin before your morning drive.

The audio system includes 6 speakers, AM/FM, satellite radio with a 3-month trial, internet radio, and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls. Two USB-C connections sit up front and two more are in the rear. Over-the-air software updates keep the system current without a dealership visit. Teen Driver technology is also standard, allowing parents to set speed and audio limits for younger drivers.

The optional Technology Package adds a 360-degree surround-view camera, front and side parking cameras, a digital rearview mirror, traffic sign recognition, a wireless charging pad, and rain-sensing automatic wipers, a meaningful upgrade for anyone who regularly parks in tight urban spaces.

Reliable Safety Features

Both the LT   and RS   carry a comprehensive standard safety suite. The airbag system includes dual front airbags, front side airbags, and front-and-rear side curtain airbags,  6 airbags total. Front and rear seatbelts include pre-tensioners, and the center rear position gets a 3-point belt. LATCH child seat anchors are standard.

Active safety systems standard on both trims include Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection (activates from 5 mph), Lane Keep Assist, Blind Zone Steering Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Braking. ABS with brake assist, electronic auto-hold, hill holder, and StabiliTrak stability control are also standard. OnStar's emergency call capability and accident data recorder provide an additional safety net for life's unexpected moments.

Shoppers who add the optional Super Cruise Package gain Level 2 hands-free driver assistance — including map-linked adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, active lane control, automated lane changing, traffic jam assist, and Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking with a driver attention monitor — a meaningful upgrade for longer highway commutes.

2027 Chevrolet Bolt Frequently Asked Questions

How does Chevy’s Super Cruise work?

+

Super Cruise® hands-free driver assistance technology works on compatible roads that have been pre-mapped out by GM. Super Cruise® hands-free driver assistance technology handles steering, acceleration, and braking across more than 600,000 miles of compatible roads, including both divided and non-divided highways. These roads have been specially mapped by LiDAR to provide Super Cruise with the data needed for hands-free driving.

Explore the map of Super Cruise enabled roads to discover GM’s over 600,000 miles of compatible roads on the way to your next destination. That’s four times more miles of compatible North American roads than offered by Ford’s BlueCruise with their published 130,000-mile range.

Is 255 miles of range enough for daily driving in the Reading, PA area?

+

For most buyers, yes. The average American drives roughly 37 miles per day. Even a demanding week of commuting, school runs, and weekend errands rarely exceeds 150–175 miles, leaving a comfortable buffer. The Bolt's 255-mile range means most owners charge at home overnight using a Level 2 charger and start every morning with a full battery. Longer regional trips are manageable with DC fast charging, which can add significant range in under 30 minutes at a 150 kW station. Bob Fisher Chevrolet has installed two electric vehicle charging stations at our Reading location.

What is the difference between the LT and RS trims on the new Chevy Bolt?

+

Both trims share the same motor, battery, range, and safety systems. The RS   makes several comfort and style upgrades standard that cost extra on the LT, including synthetic leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a 8-way power driver's seat, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rear center armrest, ambient interior lighting, black roof rails, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. If you are considering adding the Comfort Package and Evotex Package to the LT, the RS Auto represents better value at its price point.

Can I charge the 2027 Bolt at home?

+

Yes. The Bolt supports Level 1 charging (standard 120V outlet, 1.4 kW) for overnight top-ups, and Level 2 charging (240V, up to 11.5 kW onboard charger) for a full charge in approximately 6.21 hours. A GM PowerUp Level 2 Charger   is available as a professionally-installed option, and a GM J1772 AC Adapter is also available if needed for public charging compatibility. A PowerShift Charging Package that includes a wall charger is available through the dealer as well.
