About Kutztown Pennsylvania

Kutztown, a borough in Berks County, is located 18 miles outside of Allentown and 17 miles northeast of READING. The area was established when George Kutz purchased 130 acres of land that became Kutztown in 1755. By 1779 Kutz had laid out his plans for an actual town, and Kutztown was incorporated as a borough in 1815. It holds the title of second oldest borough in Berks County after READING. Kutztown is conveniently located and easily accessible. Major roads such as U.S. Route 222 bypass the borough to the north and west on a freeway, heading northeast to Allentown and southwest to READING. The borough also has a central Main Street that connects to US 222 at both ends. Kutztown University is located just outside the borough limits to the southwest.
