Healthy Snacks for the Road
Are you always on the go? Whether you are headed on a road trip or driving your kids all over town, it's easy to forget about healthy eating, including healthy snack ideas. This has become an issue in our house, so I decided to buckle down and do something about it.
What are some easy yet healthy snack options for the road when you're on the go? Since I have 3 girls, each have their own tastes and wants, but they all need to eat healthy with no trans fats and sugars. So here are options I have been trying when on the go and it seems to work:
- Popcorn bags
- Carrot sticks
- Trail mix - Homemade ones might be better and depending on food allergies
- Granola Bars
- String cheese
- Snap peas
- Apples
- Bananas
Since our oldest daughter has braces, she's limited to what she can eat, so we get concerned on the nutrients she can have when on the go. Lately protein drinks and shakes seem to be doing the trick to supplement what she is missing.
Bring a long bottled water and your good to go. Giving a variety of healthy options cuts down on complaining all together. This is a must when busy and on the road all the time. While these snack ideas should be a no-brainer, it's easy to either skip snacks or grab things that are just not healthy like chips, cookies, etc.
