Western PA Road Trip

Autumn Beauty of Western Pennsylvanian Roads

The leaves are turning, but soon enough their beautiful autumn colors will be gone. So, take advantage of nature’s fleeting beauty now! Jump in the car with your favorite people and enjoy a leisure drive up and down western Pennsylvania’s country roads. Here are a few of my favorite spots for breathtaking views.

Clarion County: Located in west central PA, Clarion County hosts the annual Autumn Leaf Festival in October, but get there early in the day to avoid those crazy college kids!

Conestoga Ridge Road: Lancaster County is most known for its Amish and Mennonite population, but don’t forget the scenic views of its rolling hills and landscape valleys. If you want to travel back in time to a simpler life, this drive is for you.

Laurel Highlands Scenic Byway: If the weather cooperates, you can ditch the car and stretch your legs. Bicycle and walking trails make it easy to exercise surrounded by nature’s beauty.

Racoon Creek State Park: Enjoy the colorful rolling farm land, and once you arrive, the open-air markets. Scenic and a shopping spot? I’m in!

Slippery Rock: Start at New Castle and enjoy the views courtesy of the 16-mile drive to Slippery Rock.
